Nardil Holiday?

I haven't taken Nardil for the past two days (I usually take 90mg/day) and I still feel OK. Any benefit or detriment to taking a few days off of Nardil every now and then? Perhaps I could recapture some of that initial Nardil rush if I take some time off then cycle the dose back up.

any help on this?

Hi,
Since the MAO inhibition lasts long after the medication is discontinued, you can probably get away with a few days.

I reduced my dosage from 90mg to 45mg for about two weeks before the depression started to return. As someone wrote recently, lowering your dosage to 15mg from 75 or 90 is just asking for trouble. It is a myth that when a high dosage is required to stop the depression, a small dose will maintain the remission.

I so wish that Nardil medication worked this way because so many of the side effects are dose related. Alas, it doesn't.

As a long term user of Nardil(12 years), I often wonder if the medication has changed my brain chemistry. Every time I greatly reduce or stop Nardil, eventually the major depression returns. I think my type of depression is chronic, like diabetes or heart disease. You just don't stop the med. Any thoughts on this?

PS Don't chase the euphoria. I have quit Nardil many times for other drug trials. The euphoria(hypomania?) that I experienced when first starting the medication has never returned.
