MAOI with Seroquel...

Posted by Sheilac on April 29, 2008, at 7:10:41

In order to help myself lose weight, I have been taking a low dose of Phentermine a few times a week. I have lost 22 pounds over 4 months (very slow).

I take Seroquel at night, which has been wonderful. But my depression persists. I know I have to stop taking the diet pill and get on a good AD.

How long do I have to be off the diet pill before I can use an MAOI?

Also - what are some good MAOIs that I could combo with my Seroquel? I only need a tiny dose.

Is it possible to take a small dose of Geodon? I thought I heard before you have to take a large dose of Geodon in order to get a small effect?

Parnate would probably help you lose weight, since it's the most stimulating. You would be very likely to gain weight with Nardil. EMSAM and Marplan are more weight neutral.

I take Nardil with Seroquel...little bit of weight gain but not too bad.....it's a cool combo- but u have to give it time!

Other atypicals can be great with Nardil- watch out for Olanzapine with re: wieght gain but!

You might find that the Seroquel has been the cause of weight gain - I've been on Seroquel 400mg for 4 months and have gained around 4 stone!

I would check that it isn't the Seroquel before seeking anything else

Good Luck
