Any latest info on Remeron in small sub-therapeutic doses for treatment of insomnia?

Hi Ronaldo. Good to see you.

I have never taken micro doses of Remeron for more than a few nights, other than weaning off higher doses. But micro doses for me were very good sleep aids. I've taken doses like 3mg to 7.5mg. Based on my tinnitus which is sensitive to norepinephrine stimulation, I think the norepinephrine componenet kicks in at about 7.5mg, but under that it is mostly just serotonin and histamine. Can't comment on longterm use. My guess is the sedation would probably lessen.

It worked great for me at 3mgs. Some of the best sleep I've had in years. Unfortunately, it gave me severe RLS after a week or so :(

I've used Remeron for many years. For me, low dose remeron definitely helped my insomnia. The key words here are 'for me'. Everybody is different.

tolerance is often developed quickly with antihistamines but treatment of insomnia is an option with remeron taking small dosages.

don't know when to take at best, probably around 8 o'clock (?).

warm socks and a warm blanket is another trick that I learned while sleeping outdoors at minus temperatures.

warm regards

It is one of several common non-addictive classes of medications used to treat sleep disorders, Remeron a class of its own, Trazodone another class of its own, and sometimes tricyclics such as Doxepin or Elavil.

The greater the dose, the more the weight gain and appetite increase in most cases.

At subtherapeutic doses, it is typically used still at 7.5mg and contributes somewhat to a better sleep structure. It can still cause weight gain, so something to watch out for.

Not everyone responds to the somnolence of a low dose of Remeron -- I did at one point but later on once a few weeks passed it became an antidepressant. Of course that was 15mg. So who knows. 15mg in the past would have still given me trippy dreams. But that's just a single case.

I wish you luck on it -- if you have serious insomnia, a sleep study is something worth looking into.
