Too Much Nardil??

Posted by maoi_wowee on April 16, 2008, at 21:27:07

I was on 75mg of Nardil, did great for a few weeks, then depression started to come back so I upped dose to 90mg. Did OK for a few weeks at 90mg, but now my depression has started to come back again.

Any chance that things could get better by decreasing my Nardil dose? Or perhaps by decreasing it down a bunch then upping it again and keeping this cycle going?

Any thoughts/help? I'm lost and desperate

They say it's more about time than about dose.

However, dose is certainly not without significance, as it affects the level of MAO inhibiton.

Some sources recommend 1 mg phenelzine per Kg body weight. However, up to at least 135 mg may be necessary. Even then, it may be necessary to add a stimulant - see:

Personally, I would rather start with a stimulant at high doses, and then add the MAOI, preferably rasagiline, as this would minimise the risk of complications arising from MAO inhibition (dietary and drug interactions).

This is the end of the thread.
