Anyone here actually tried Ketamine.

Posted by deniseuk190466 on January 8, 2008, at 17:06:15

I was just wondering if anyone on this board with depression has actually tried Ketamine and if so with what results. I did a search on google and can't find any experiences from depression suffererers.

I'm sort of in 2 minds about going on a Ketamine trial but a) I'm worried that it will make things worse. I do get some benefits from Seroxat and I get relief from Zyprexa, I'd hate to try Ketamine and then find Seroxat and Zyprexa no longer work. That would be the pits. I would then really be in hell.

I'm also concerned that I might have a really bad trip on Ketamine. When I'm depressed/anxious just a small amount of weed (which I don't touch and only used to occassionally) seems to take me lower and lower. I can't help but feel that Ketamine would plunge me into a deeper hell.

If anyone has tried it then please let me know. If not then please don't respond to this thread as I'm only interested in hearing of others experiences.

Thanks.....Denise

Rover,

Yes I had seen that they are doing studies with Ketamine and Lamotrigine.

The thing is, the trial I am considering is where they take Ketamine and then go on to a second study where they take just Riluzole. For these trials you are not allowed to take anything else at all. I think if you are bipolar you are allowed to continue with a mood stabaliser but if you are not then you have to come off all medication two weeks prior to starting the trial.

thanks....Denise
