Sort of off topic from medication, but...
Around people, especially around people having fun (parties, social situations) I get these strong negative feelings.
It is like being depressed, very angry, combative and resentful all at once.
It comes on very quickly. This only happens in social type situations.
I don't think it is social anxiety because I don't feel anxious. I feel more depressed and angry than anything. I do want to flee the situation, not out of fear, but just because I feel so awful.
Is there a name for this?
Thanks :)

Schizoid personality disorder sounds like EXACTLY what I have, at least some aspects.
Looks like it is responsive to medication, too.

Does this sound like you too?

actually, I have tried none of the anti-psychotics.
I'm going to ask my doctor for Risperdal the next time I see him.
Sorry the Seroquel stopped working for you. Looks like there are other drugs in this class to try though.

hey
I've been diagnosed w/ skits and I'm on abilify and lexapro. was on risperdal and did good for like 2 weeks then left me flat depressed and the feeling u felt in your first post about the negative feelings, I've felt also. Feeling insecure, like an oddball outcast because of my diagnosis, how the meds were making me feel and how I was feeling because of my illness. I really felt better a few weeks after taking abilify and tapering off the risperdal. Its up to you risperdal may work for you w/o side effects. I really like abilify but some have horrible side effects from it. I think anybody taking a medium dose of any antipsychotic will experience side effects. Be aware of it and how your feeling, speak to a pdoc and work carefully w/ him. You eventually have to know yourself and your condition quite well as you'll be like your own doctor so to speak as well. Meaning as you learn psychiatric stuff, you can recommend to the pdoc how u feel like going less on the meds etc. have you been diagnosed w/ something before? are u taking any meds? anything traumatic happen in your life? just some factors to consider.
take carenfc

I'd be careful to judge and label something immediately as an exact disorder. It could be a lot of things. If you have access to psychological testing it really brings light into things. If I could guess there's a lot of self esteem issues going on there plus a lot of other factors. Just a viewpoint to not rush to judgment because that just leads to beating yourself up and making yourself feel worse. You don't have to feel anxiety to have conditions interacting with the world around you.
Best wishes

Hi Jay,
Thanks for your comments. I'm going to try to get an evaluation for this. And if anything, attaching a label to it makes me feel better not worse.
