i had been on lamictal for almost 2 months when i developed a slight rash on my forearms. i had the rash checked out and was told that it was unlikely the result of the lamictal. the next morning i woke with a 101.5F temp and was given the morning dose of lamictal. by noon, the rash had spread to my complete upper body. i also developed an intense pain, level 10 on a 1-10 scale, in my hips and other muslces and joints of my legs. at this time the lamictal was stopped. since then, and in order of appearance, i have developed the following: 101+ fever, sore throat with white knobs growing on my mucus membranes, yeast infection in my mouth, rash spreading to my complete body, rash and fever disappearing, rash returning to head and pubic area then spreading to torso and trunk. the rash on my forearms is different than the other rash in that it is blistering and pops in the heat and sun of the summer, my forearms and face are swollen. the rash on my forearms and face does not itch but hurts yet the rest of my body itches, including anal and vaginal itching. my hands feel like they are swollen and it is hard to hold anything in my hands because the deep, shingle like blisters hurt so much. i have blisters on my lips and my lips feel as if they are permanently chapped. i continue to have a fever yet it is lowgrade at 99-100.
why do i know that it's the lamictal??? because i've been on the other medications in my life for years and the lamictal has only been introduced in the past 2 months.
it may not be SJS but it hurts like hell and is debilitating becuase there is no treatment except to treat the itching with an antihistamine and the pain with vicodin

Have you thought of checking into a hospital until it is under control. The rash from Lamotrigine is potentially life threatening.
