Any negative experiences of Parnate with stimulant

Posted by Shaner on July 17, 2007, at 14:28:12

Has anyone ever had any bad experiences combining Parnate or Nardil with a stimulant? I read the positive and negative studies and I've tried a small dose of Provigil 100mg with Parnate 20mg but I would like to either try a higher dose Provigil or maybe a different stimulant for lack of motivation, focus, socialability, fatigue, drive, etc. Has anyone personally had a problem or success doing this? I'm going to keep a close eye on my blood pressure. I'm also taking a small dose of 5htp with it. How does a person go about asking their pdoc for something like ritalin if they haven't been diagnosed add or narcoleptic? I don't want to get addicted to anything and I don't want to have highs and lows throughout the day but maybe a small dose of something like ritalin wouldn't be a problem. In the last few weeks a lot of the fatigue has gone away which is good news but some of the other symptoms still persist.

I took both Ritalin and Adderall with Parnate for several years without any problems. I convinced my p-doc to prescribe when I went to see him armed with some correspondence from respected p-docs praising the combination of stimulants and MAOI's. I found the correspondence in Tips on this website. The last time I checked, it was still there.

I also tried Provigil briefly, but it did nothing for me, except make me nervous.

What kind of doses were you taking and did it result in any up and down mood swings? Was is difficult to stop taking the stimulants?
