Can risperdal cause permanent sexual dysfunction if taking 6mg for 3 months. Are there any studies on sexual dysfunction after discontinuing this drug and are there people on this forum that have gotten their sex drives back fully after taking it.

is it permanent tho? I mean u claim it has happened with other drugs...was it a neuroleptic? Also doesn't the brain heal and shouldn't sexual functioning return back to normal after time. I have been off it for a year and still dont have a sex drive before I was super horny.

I have no sex drive like 3 years after stopping SSRI's. I hope it returns. Yes I too had more than this before.

A Dexamphetamine script resolved that however.

Try high dose Vitamin C, Yohimbe,
Cheers

what is a short while for you and what dose did you take of the risperdal...I took risperdal 3mg with max dose of ssri for about 3 months and lost my sex drive a year and a half ago. I'm not horny at all nemore bc I took the Risperdal with the ssris during those 3 months. I have been off risperdal for over a year and a half and all ssris as well but did not yet regain my sex drive.....ALso my t*ts go in and out all the time so i know my prolactin is high still. do you think yohimbe is the best choice or dopermergenic drugs. My hormones levels are terribly low on the blood test and prolactin mid to high range. Is it possible that too much dopamine has been permanently destroyed and can never repair or is this more of a gene expression change?...I have been mega dosing vitamin C for a while plus taking 150 mg of wellbutrin but to no avail. I think I need a stronger agonist like dostinex or I am considering deprynyl. compared to before my sex drive is only 10% of what it was.

I took Risperdal for a casual period of 2-3 months 2mgssI took risperdal 3mg with max dose of ssri for about 3 months and lost my sex drive a year and a half ago. I take it you are female?do you think yohimbe is the best choice or dopermergenic drugs.
Yohimbe can work very well for many, so can Dopaminergic meds, which are sometimes given to counteract SSRI SEs.
My hormones levels are terribly low on the blood test and prolactin mid to high range. Is it possible that too much dopamine has been permanently destroyed and can never repair or is this more of a gene expression change?I think an endochronoligist may help.

Good luck

im actually a dude but my t*ts got big from risperdal but get small in cold weather again or when taking a piss bc i think prolactin is messed up. Then they get small again. Are you saying that you yourself regained 100% sex drive back after discontinuing the drug by taking dopermergenic drugs? I find that remarkable if you did.

Yes, a good drive returned, maybe long term SSRI use was to blame.

one last question sorry to bother you but what was the exact regimen that you took to get it back and do you continue to have to take drugs to keep it or if you stopped an agonist drug would your sex drive go away?...I know one guy who took risperdal 4mg a day for 3 months lost his sex drive then took dostinex and it worked very well on the first dose but subsequent doses failed. He even tried adderall as well but had no effect for him nemore. Was there a period of waiting done before you tried the dopamine agonist for your dopamine receptors to become less sensitized?
Also was it ritalin or adderral you referred to in the first post and how did you get a prescription for the drug or did you buy it online?>

When i stopped Risperdal regurally, my drive returned. Have been taking a Dopamine agonist for several years under the supervision of a specialist. This was changed to lowish dose Dexamphetamine for a short while, which while increasing libido more so, was unsatisfactory for other reasons.
This is the end of the thread.
