. . . but wish I were on Lexapro. I can't put my finger on the difference, but there is one. Celexa is working. Don't get me wrong. It is doing what it supposed to do. But Lexapro seemed to do it BETTER. I don't like change in my life anymore, especially when it has to do with my feelings and attitude.
It is not like having an obvious medical problem where you can actually SEE results. This is so subjective and insidious. The only thing I can say is something is different. Even though I feel fine, I don't feel "on track" any longer. I am mellow (without being lethargic). I take life as it comes (without being a doormat). But something is not the same.
How many of you have actually contacted your insurance company and tried to persuade them to lower your co-pay for the only drug that really works?

Oh I wish an old poster would respond as she found the same thing she was well on lexapro and the celexa just wasn't the same. She is now back on lexapro and doing great. I would try the insurance and if it doesn't work pay out of pocket your mental health is worth it. You are very lucky you found something to work as ll years later and nothing for me may be my thyroid condition? Love Phillipa

Thank you so much Phillipa. The co-pay for Celexa (generic) is zero. The co-pay for Lexapro is $40 a month. I think i will write to the insurance company and plead my case. Maybe I should get my doctor involved in this, also.
I feel "OK". I just used to feel GREAT!!!

Can you expand on this?
Are you less energetic, less confidant or less aware of your surroundings, then on Lexapro?
Something along those lines, perhaps.

They may be close in makeup but no two meds are the same, even if an isomer was removed. Even batches of the same med can differ in effects.
Lexapro is a more "active" compound then Celexa IMO. Celexa doesn't have the initial start-up anxiety for me that Lexapro does.

If I know insurance companies, and I do, if you have the funds to pay for the premiums they will not lower the co-pay but suggest you go to a higher plan.Which company do you have your health insurance with?

Have you tried other ssri's? I have trouble with the start up anxiety as paxil was a disaster and luvox didn't seem to work either. Any other start up side effects with celexa? Thank you.

I have not tried anything other than Lexapro. I will probably end up going back to it. This has been good for me trying something else. Now my husband will stop bugging me about switching.
As far as the feelings I am getting; I have told you all I can put into words. There is no anxieties; there are no jitters; there are no anything elses. It is just different than when I was on Lex. I am not as happy as I was. I am not as satisfied with myself as I was. Nothing cryptic; nothing hidden. That is just all I "know".
This is the end of the thread.
