I feel I abuse his availability.
I bother him about dumb side effects.
Sometimes his responses are curt. Othertimes he says things which don't really resonate with me.
I think I have a problem with attributing all my problems to medical problems, instead of just admitting the power of the psyche over my somatic state.
Like when he says he has no idea what's causing symptom/side effect X. That must be frustrating to someone who cares about helping people.
I should just keep my mouth shut.
Sorry pdoc.

That's part of his job to report side effects and give a reason for them. Love Phillipa

I have the opposite problem. I don't report side effects. My pdoc doesn't concentrate on meds so we hardly ever talk about them. I often forget to tell her my side effects. I had tremors for goodness knows how long before others started noticing and even then I still forgot to report them.
I think it's a good habit to take note of side effects and when they occurred. Then you can have a chance of figuring out whether meds are the cause. Now I don't know if meds are causing my tremors because I didn't tell my pdoc right when I got them.
I also attribute all my problems on my psychological state and deny that meds help at all. I think of meds as placebo for me. I don't actually believe the meds do anything for me. I continue taking them because my pdoc seems to think they help and also just out of habit.

Hi Llurpsie,
What you described is a familiar and frustrating situation.
Sometimes it is difficult to know what to do about symptoms or side effects of meds, especially if you are "known" to suffer from psychosomatic symptoms.
However, it is possible that some people are more sensitive to drug side effects, and it is also possible that some physical complaints which are attributed to depresssion, anxiety, etc are actually of somatic origin and may be contributing to, or even causing, some of the problems assumed to be psychiatric.
Knowing when to suspect what and how to differentiate between the two can sometimes be tricky...Take care,
Nellie.

I had some unfortunate stress with my pharmacy, and my pdoc gave me generous samples of expensive medication so that I would have some time to sort everything out.
lucky me...
