Provigil-Valium Rollercoaster :(

Posted by Lauren Green on April 1, 2007, at 20:40:32

Hi,

I hope someone out there can give me some advice on what I should do about my current med situation. I'm taking 200mg of provigil just to keep me awake and functioning, but I'm also supposed to be taking 2mg of valium twice a day to keep my insane anxiety under control. I also just started taking lamectil to control my mood flare ups. The problem is, without the provigil, I can't stay awake long enough to do anything, and wihtout the valium I'm so anxious that I can't function, but the valium totally dampens the effects of the provigil. Basically leaving me back where I started, slow and sleepy. I take some provigil in the morning with a valium, and half way through the day I take more provigil to get back up, and then another valium to calm down...etc... I feel like I'm on this horrible rollercoaster.

I don't know if anyone else has had a similar upper-downer experience and might have some advice...

Which did you start taking first, the provigil or the valium? Was your energy level low before you took them?

Maybe the provigil isn't strong enough to give you enough energy when you take valium. 200 mg isn't such a large dose of provigil. I often feel very tired, and need to take provigil twice a day. It doesn't seem like that strong a stimulant to me, and didn't help much when I was taking enervating ADs. The same thing might apply to benzos.
