How long after I swallow an ativan is the peak effect of the drug felt? Let's say I have an anxiety inducing event (like a speech that I have to give) at a particular time, how long b/f that time should I pop the pill?
Also, for how long after taking the pill will I feel the effects of it?
Thank you!

I personally notice considerable/therapeutic effects about 1.5 hours after taking Ativan on an empty stomach...longer if stomach isn't empty. Good luck...Saturn.

30 minutes is possible. Be careful that you've memorized the speech and you're only taking just enough to quell anxiety. Propranolol is much more useful there but if you find Ativan works, then so much the better. Do realize that it will be in your system for the next 60 hours, its useful half life somewhere around 12 hours, so if you've never taken benzodiazepines, take care driving.

How much will you be taking? 0.5 mg? 1.0 mg?
I have taken 0.5 and found it too sedating at times and then took half of that (0.25 mg)Onset: 1 hour
Peak: 2 hours
Duration: 12-24 hours. If it were me, I would pop it probably 2-3 hours ahead of time since if it takes effect at the time I need it most, I would feel too drugged.
Why not test it out first? Than you'll know what it does to you and you can experiment with what dosage relaxes you, but doesn't make you too relaxed for a speech or such.

I have taken Ativan an the effect started in 15min.
But it takes you about 45min to get an Ativan effect.
Ativan lasts 5-6 hours.
