I have been taking Abilify since Oct. of 2006, I was diagnosed with manic bi-polar disorder, after having a psycotic episode for the first time in my life. They have me on doses of 15mg of Abilify 2x a day and 10 mg of lithium 1x a day. My Question is concerning lowering the dose of Abilify to 20mg a day to see if that still works as well as the 30 mg a day. I just can not afford this medication and am running out of resources. Please respond back asap Thanx BratCat

If you drop gradually, you should be OK. There are sites--I can't put names in here--that sell generic versions of Abilify produced in India by legit companies for relatively little $$$. You might want to google "cheap medicines magicpharma".
Anyway, just do it as gradually as you can, since withdrawing from any psychiatric med involves a risk of some sort of withdrawal. 30mgs/day abilify is a lot (its usually the max dose), so a drop in dosage is probably a good idea at some point anyway..just do be careful, and watch out for any problems that pop up as you go down in dose.

Thanks for your quick response, as you know i am on 30 mg of abilify per day. my pills are in 15 mg doses 1 taken in the morning and 1 taken in the evening, if I were to cut a 15mg in half and take half in the morning and half in the evening, do you think this would be bad? please share your insight with me on this matter and also thanks for the advice on lower costing medicines. The exact same situation you described is me all the way. The difference is the Abilify isn't working, it's just making me dizzy, hungry, sad and happy. I'm taking myself off of it, as of three days ago. I'm doing okay, just bad headaches thus far. The lower dose didn't do anything but I think it takes about two to three weeks to take effect.
