Any advice on low dose perphenazine ( trilafon ) for bipolar would be appreciated. I'm on 1mg tid right now, just for starters... I'm affected a bit with tiredness and dizziness but still manic behaviours (hypomanic)
thanks

1mg is a small dose. You may need more for your simptoms. But a slow increase is usually best, for side-effects. Let me know how the rest of your trial with perphenazine goes, I'm very interested, as this was a med I am considering.

I am very sensitive--so far I get a bit of cloudy thinking, slight dizziness, very slight anxiety, ..I'm wondering if I should stay on low dose and wait a few weeks, or increase a bit now. I'm always very very sensitive to antipsychotics, with akithisia and cognitive problems...
I tried 2mg at bedtime last night and felt like I was being mentally suffocated...

Did you have anxiety before the perpenazine? Was it worse, less, or the same. Maybe you should stay at that dose if you are sensitive to it. Sounds like it didn't have a good effect at the 2mg dose. I usualy judge proper dose by my reaction to it. Does the dose feel strong, weak, or just right. Good effect or bad. Less anxiety or more. Less dilusions, clearer thoughts, etc.

Well, I stopped taking it, because it seemed to have side effects but no positive effects.

Cognitive slowness, aphasia, tiredness, slight akithisia.
