Can I Mix Amisulpride in Water?

Posted by blueberry1 on January 6, 2007, at 20:23:23

I have 200mg tabs of amisulpride and am on day 2 of 50mg/day for depression. The problem is that even though the tabs are scored down the middle, it is impossible to get exact 50mg quarters. The stuff crumbles easily and doesn't cut where I want it to. I don't want to get 45mg one day and 55mg the next. 50mg every day please.

Can I mix a tab in 1 cup of water? That way I can stir it good and drink exactly 1/4 cup per day. I've done that with prozac and other drugs but didn't know if water would affect the efficacy of amisulpride or not. Prozac water supposedly stays good for a week or more in the refrigerator, but I don't know about amisulpride. I imagine I can do this but I am hoping someone here will know for sure.

I don't think there's a problem in theory but in practice the tablets may not dissolve properly and the dose you get may vary even if you stir it well. My old psychiatric nurse told me of a guy who weaned himself off lorazepam by crushing the tablets up into a fine powder then dividing the powder into quarters using fine graph paper as a guide. I really don't know for sure which would be the most accurate, it depends on how well those particular tablets you have dissolve.
