Hi, I am currently on Prozac 20 mgs. and Lithium ER 450 mg/day. I was never officialy diagnosed as bipolar but the Lithium was added 3 years ago to level out mood swings presumed to be related to my monthly cycle. I am 38 yrs. old with 2 children and have had PMDD since my daughter was born 6 years ago. I only have about 2-3 "good" days a month. Mostly my problem is depression. I have tried to reduce my lithium thinking that this is making me feel depressed, but then I actually feel worse. Does this mean I actually may need MORE lithium at certain times of the month? Seems counterintuitive since Lithium is used mostly as an anti-manic med. Any women that can relate to this? thank you.

Lithium works on depression as well as mania.
It balances the two extremes at the same time.Squiggles
