Have started lyrica

Posted by kiwiredbeach on October 23, 2006, at 16:10:02

I have gad and panic disorder and was epiliptic as a child My pdoc prescribed me lyrica (pregabalin) at 4 doses of 25 mgs a day. To be fair to my pdoc this is a low dose. However I am having a bad time with it. my vision is slighly blurred, i cant judge distances, I feel dizzey, I have a funny stabbing pain in my foot. I feel confused with with high anxiety. My ocd is running amok, usually its not a problem but at the momement its a big problem.

My doctor says im very sensitive to the medicine so i shut cut what i take, but im already taking 50 mg a day. According to the box starting dosage is 50mg 3 times a day (a total 150mg a day) I think the common sense idea is that lyrica is no good for me.

How long have you now been taking it for, Kiwi? And have you been taking a constant amount?
I have never taken Lyrica and I know nothing about it but it seems to me that it is still 'early days' and you might tolerate it better after giving it a bit more time to settle into your system.

I hope it comes right for you and it works well.

If it doesn't work there is no point in beating yourself over the head with it. You need to discuss with your doctor what is a reasonable period for it to settle in and if it doesn't settle in within that period of time then you should quit it.

I'm fresh out of platitudes now. Sorry I can't offer more specific advice. Good luck.

Don't worry about the dose. They are now finding that low doses work very well for some people. Wish I had known that years ago as I'm med sensitive too. Love Phillipa

Well Crazyhorse said he felt better on lyrica at high doses than low doses.

So maybe if you can get up to a high dose quickly you might find it works, maybe not.

I've found over the past five years, I often do better on drugs at high doses than low doses. This is why I get frustrated when Psychiatrists stick me on a low dose and only increase the dose after a month because I very often feel worse on a low dose than I do on a high dose.
