Topamax is toast

Posted by lymom3 on August 22, 2006, at 12:33:39

I can not take the bursting into tears over nothing any more. No one can stand me the way I am. I will go back down to my low dose of Lamictal and see if the pdoc can find anything else to add seeing how I can't tolerate a higher dose of the Lamictal.

Anyone ever just wonder if this is as good as you can ever hope for? I want to feel "right" again but is it even possible and would I recognize it again if I got there?

When you get there you will know. Have you tried other mood stabilisers. I am a fan of Trileptal because of the low side-effect profile.

Take care.

So the pdoc called me back and I really want to just quit taking this stuff, he wants me to up the dose. I know that I've read that Topamax is very much dosage dependant and that s/e's can get better but I just don't know what is the best thing to do...grrrr

Weight is an issue so he's trying to stay with something weight neutral for me.

I've been on both low dose lamictal and trileptal. No side effects from trileptal but I guess the crying was from the lamictal and excess salivating. And I don't truly know if I would know if I was better after l0years. Love Phillipa

An odd thing happened today....I trusted what the doctor told me to do which was up the Topamax and guess what...no crying today...don't know if it will hold out, but I am quite surprised and pleased!!
