I have bipolar II, I have only had 1 manic epidose and maybe a couple of hypomanic episodes, buy mainly switch from feeling "OK" to moderately bad episodes of depression. I have tried about every medicine under the sun ,just like alot of people on this board have and nothing works or if it does , not very long.
But I am going to the doctor tommorrow and was wondering if anyone has had any positive results treating their depression with abilify?
Any feedback will be appreciated!
J

I took abilify for a short time, mostly to help with controlling mania. I can't say it did much for my depression, but it may be different for everyone. Good luck

I'm not BP, but I have found abilify very helpful for my depression. It's worth a try.
Best,

I took abilify and it helped with depression; but on the other hand I couldn't sleep so I quit taking it.

How does an antipsychotic help with depression? Is it the stimulating side effects? I'd think it would make you very nervous but what do I know? Love Phillipa

Thanks everyone for the responses, I appreciate it. I saw my doctor today and he actually put me on 300 mg of Seroquel . I don;t know anything about it, but he said in his experience it was good for bipolar depression. I hope he is right!
