Again.. need some answers from you.
I wish I could give more answers, but I dont
feel able since some time; feel too bad. Here we go. I have some pressure in my head (intracranial pressure) OR so I have the feeling of it. It all start when I tried Nardil, weird sensation in the head, like I was to have a seizure or something. Then I took Parnate and did some spontaneous hypertensive crisis (up into the 200-230 range, not sure of the medical equipment, so lets put it at 215). Then I tried Manerix/Aurorix (Moclobemide), a RIMA (Reversible Inhibitor of the Monoamines Oxidase), a revesible IMAO like Nardil and Parnate which isn't well know here because it isn't available in USA but is in Canada. Then, without anormal blood pressure, I started to have big intracranial blood pressure. I stopped Manerix after 3 days becauses I had too much side-effects.
Now it's been many days since I've stop Manerix tiny 3 days trial and I have that brain pressure again. Sometimes it spikes to a point where I feel a little, subtile pain in the right hemisphere.. very little localized spot.
I wonder if I should do something about this. I don't want to sound paranoid, but can it be that I had a little 'you name it' in the brain when I did my hypertensive crisis ? I had more than one (not everyone as bad as the ~215 systolic one)
Any thought will be appreciated. Dont forget too leave me you Paypal account number...
... so that if I win the lottery I could send you some. ;)

I would, there are pesky side effects to drugs that people hold off on till they deem its time to bite the bullet and check it out,i.e some sexual dysfunction, perhaps diahera etc......But cranial pressure,id say thats warrent for a visit,i felt cranial pressure when i had the parnate interaction the day after my ER stay for my appendix removal, there i had demerol and a mixture of a few other anesthics,i was assured over and over again i could re-start parnate on going home,so i did even though i disagreed with the docters.
Well upon getting home and dosing parnate,my head felt the way u described.I spent two days being generous with benzos and of course halting maois period, and it went away.It contiuning in ur case id check it out.
I myself have complained here of a feeling inside my ear,not anywhere u can urself get to by cleaning,or a doc with simple cleaning, but inner inner, like behind my ear,its very strange and appears a lot latly, when i was recently in ER about klonopin W/D i mentioned this to my doc and he looked at me like everything,me asking for klonopin,my illness all of it were phony and made some sort of facial gesture and looked in with his little light, told me its nothing, way to go doc now i feel secure.Man in a different age id taken that light and, well anyway are u on a maoi now at all?

Indeed. You are just like Neo in 'The Matrix', you know jack sh*t about what's coming to ya un til you take the red pill. But just like Neo, it can free you (sometimes) .. and at a price.

The weird thing in my case is that my BP is at a nice 119/67. Surgery and MAOIs don't get together very well; Docs should know better. Stronger directives should be given to nurses. In fact to be safe you should have put a sticker on your forehead saying: " DON'T KILL ME, BE MAOI'S AWARE. for futher informations read the tatoo on my chest. " ;) Dont want to scare anyone who is or would like to take an MAOI, I'm only joking here.

I see this from here.. the doc walking like a duck to the ER of the hospital to ask another doc to remove that light from <<well anyway>>
> are u on a maoi now at all?
Nope, no AD at all. I feel emotionnaly unstable but it tend to stabilize with each passing day.
At least I can fill the emptyness of my soul with Old Cheese, Pepperoni AND *COMPLETE* Bananas!
Hope you doing well Wyllee,
Marty

Hi Marty
How long is it since you stopped the moclobemide? What side effects were you having? What is your blood pressure now?
Don't forgot to avoid high-tyramine foods for at least two weeks after your last dose of an MAOI.
>Intracranial Pressure
I'm sure your ICP is fine :) There is no reason to think that it would be elevated.

Ed

MAOIs can cause headaches even in the absence of hypertension. Moclobemide often causes headaches. Headaches can also occur after the withdrawal of an antidepressant. The headaches are not causes by raised intracranial pressure, even if it feels like it! Try not to worry. Be sure of avoid high tyramine foods for AT LEAST 14 days after your last dose of Nardil or Parnate, and for ~ 48 hours after your last dose of moclobemide.
>I don't want to sound paranoid, but can it be that I had a little 'you name it' in the brain when I did my hypertensive crisis?
No, I don't think so. A stroke would have caused symptoms such as weakness/paralysis or inability to speak. Your headache is probably a withdrawal symptom. If it doesn't go away soon, be sure to consult your doctor to have your blood pressure measured and other tests.
I'm sorry Parnate didn't work out for you Marty :( Given your severe side effects, you should never take it again. I hope you can find a non-MAOI treatment which works well for you.
Regards
Ed
