How long for adrafinil to kick in?

Posted by bigcat on May 24, 2006, at 20:15:26

Been on 900mgs Adrafinil for two weeks, don't feel a thing. If it were going to work for me, would it have started working almost immediately, as Dexedrine and Adderall did for me in the past? Any experience insight appreciated. Zero side effects at this point. Not helping with energy, concentration, mood, or anything.

Its not a stimulant lik ethe oters and feels completely different.
For me it got rid of daytime sleepines but seemed to make me a little dumber.

Hi Matt
That is 3 tablets? The dose is 2 to 4 a day? It worked straight away for me. If it doesn't even make you feel a little tense, it's probably never going to do anything. I took it for some months. Could anything else you're taking detract from the effect of it?? Taking it on an empty stomach (which you are advised not to do) I felt something like nausea.

It probably takes weeks like other antidepressants. If you are going for antidepressant effects than you should give it a month to see how it affects the various dimensions of symptoms.

Just like modafinil (provigil), it's supposed to work in the background. You should not look for excessive, stimulant-like subjective effects that you would normally experience with ritalin, adderall or street drugs. It should basically elevate your mood and make you alert.

Adrafanil question for Declan

Hey Bigcat

Sorry to highjack your thread, its just that what Declan said really intrigued me

Regarding your response I'm worried that if Adrafanil hasn't had an affect on you by now then it never will, hope I'm wrong

I felt an imdiet affect from Adrafanil, but I assumed it must have been in my head because no one else seems to get this affect.

Its interesting that you experienced it to!

I loved Adrafanil, the only problem was it gave me terrible insomnia!
Did you experience this

I took adrafinil in combination with prozac and zyprexa. It worked really well and rounded out the mix perfectly. I was on it for about a year, and my maintenance dose was 300mg a day.

I did feel effects on the first day...stimulating, nervousness, edgy. That went away in a few days, then I really didn't feel much for a couple weeks, but then at about 4 weeks all of a sudden I felt great.

It is kind of subtle in the way it comes on, just like an antidepressant. The good effects really took 4 to 6 weeks for me. But as you know, mileage varies. Since you aren't getting any side effects of anything, maybe hang in there with it for a few more weeks.

I never took it by itself. So I don't know about that. It did work very well with other things.

Adrafanil answer for Tom

Hi Tom
It worked straight away for me and gave me some insomnia. I always took it first thing to minimise that. I read that stuff about eugregorics and how the benefits accumulate and become deeper....that wasn't the case with me. Life Extension made great claims for it a long time back in one of their books. I got the states of inner tension, although sometimes I felt better on it. Once I took 6 tablets in a day. I was a mess when I took it with Hydergine. The remainder of it is lying around the house somewhere.
