Depression types: anti-social vs. solitude-anxiety

Posted by chiron on May 4, 2006, at 20:31:56

There is the type of depression where you want to just hide from the world, and the kind where you feel agitated and anxious. Any thoughts?
I am feeling the extreme agitated-anxious-depressed feeling. Some nausea, like I want to throw up all of these unknown overwhelming feelings. The dr. gave me some seroquel yesterday. Any ideas on when it might calm my nerves down (besides being sedated?)

That's my type of depression. Agitation, anxiousness, can't eat or sleep. The only thing that would take the edge off the anxiousness was Xanax. I took this until celexa kicked in. I also took restoril to sleep at night. Hope this helps.

Be well

I'm like Phillipa. I have both so even staying in the house doesn't help. I have been taking Klonopin for about 2 weeks. It gives me some relaxation but basically just allows me to sleep and hide from the symptoms. Not good when you have three children to raise and am getting fatter by the second from lack of enough exersize. About to go nap now. Life is too much. Maybe my dreams will be better. Good luck.

I do get out daily unless raining and do the old lady jog. I jog aroung l.6 miles. Saw my therapist today goal to go by myself to the grocery store each day. 2nd to not feel guilty that my dog prefers my husband he has feelings too and knows who he wants. 3 join an anxiety group that meets once a week for learning to deal with anxiety. It 's baby steps but I will not be beaten down. Love Phillipa

Hey Phillipa me too! People are good for me. I need them like a plant needs water. But I get anxious and socially phobic before going out or meeting someone. And I don't lack social skills really. Once I do it I like it. Right now I've had a great day at work, productive and collaborative, I'm happy and am looking forward to going home. But I know that as the evening wears on I'll get more and more neurotic. I don't know what's good for me and I know that! Life's a bugger really
yours
Fred
