Hi, thank you for the ones who responded to my last post. Another question I have is "How should I gradually lower my dose of Effexor XR 150 mlg to 75 mlg?" Do I just start the next day with 75 mlg? I have capsules of 150 so how and if do I cut that in half with it being powder? When I was on 75 mlg of effexor, I was very pleased but wanted more energy so the doc. uped my dose to 150. Now all I want to do is get fat by eating and drinking!!!I am thinking about taking wellbutrin with it and lowering my dose? Comments and suggestions welcome and much appreciated! Thanks Stephany

I was on 225 mg of Effexor and became hypomanic, so I tried going down to 150 mg and started getting withdrawal symptoms on the second day. I went back up to 225. My doctor gave me a startup pack of Effexor with the 37.5 mg pills. I took 187.5 mg for a week and then went down to 150 mg and everything was fine. Keep in mind that everybody's different and you are on a lower dose, so you might not get withdrawal symptoms. But I'd rather be safe than sorry, so tapering down by 37.5 mg for a week is probably your best bet.

One more thing...If you can't get to the doctor to get the 37.5 pills, then you will have to empty out the capsule and count the granules. Your best bet is to use a good digital scale, but those can be expensive (I think around $100).

Thank You for responding! Well, I am hoping to get insurance this week so I can see a doctor.Last week,I missed a dose and that night I was sweating, buzzing in my head,nightmares. It was crazy. But, I think you are right. I am hoping my withrawals won't be that bad because I am not on such a high dose. I am also thinking about adding wellbutrin while lowering my dose of effexor. I have read that you can combine the two. We'll see. Thank you so much! Stephany

That is how i lowered my Effexor XR. 150 to 75, then none and did great for awhile w/ no withdrawal symptoms. The higher dose of Effexor made me exhausted feeling and Wellbutrin did help.

thank you for letting me know!It's important for me to know what others have to say. I am still waiting to see a doctor but I think I will do bring that up to him.It's funny though, I've been taking the 150 dose for about 2 mnths and now I am just starting to feel graugy and spacey but effexor also makes me want to booze it up! Its a weird side effect that I have actually read of this happening to some people.Once I have one drink, i want 4 or 5 more. Its not good esp. because i never had that problem before. I was satisfied withone or two. I am talking about wine only .Total whino! When I took wellbutrin alone a while back, I never cared to drink alot.Well, thank for your input and if you have more, please let me know. Thanx, Stephany
