Buspar and effexor

Posted by lynn971 on December 11, 2005, at 18:57:42

I started buspar and effexor Friday. 3 days ago. Is starting at 150mg too much. The doc. told me to take 75 mg once a day, but my mother-in-law, who has been helping me told me to take 2 effexors. Is that ok.

How do I make the anxiety stop? Please help somebody. Is this anxiety a chemical imbalance or is it a result of childhood abuse. How do I make it stop?

With all due respect, your doctor is highly qualified and has much more experience with dosage experiences than your mother in law. If you find that your anxiety is not decreasing, you should call your doctor right away. Just remember, it can take weeks for meds to have their full beneficial effect.

Hope this helps.

I'd go with your doc for now...150mgs/day is necessary for some people; some people respond to lower dosages, though.

I guess it could be due to either reason.

A benzo such as Xanax or Klonopin can be given until the othe drugs kick in. These can relieve your anxiety quickly. Ask your doc.
