EFFEXOR XR

Posted by Mejestica on November 24, 2005, at 16:38:39

I just got on Effexor on Tuesday. Ive been feeling pretty icky. Cant sleep at night, Ive been getting headachs, I feel dizzy at times, and my heart rate sometimes goes fast, and I feel weak. Are these normal side effects?? Not sure I like this medication...

Thanks!

Yeah, I just started the Effexor and am having some bad insomnia and muscle fatigue. I wake up sore in the morning, and simple movements like raking the leaves tire me out. These are initial side effects that should pass with time. Keep the dose low (I'm at 37.5, the average starting dose)until your body has adjusted and then titrate the dose gently. Give it time. Look at these side effects as proof that the med is changing around your system, and that these physical disturbances are often precursors for the psychological improvements which could arrive if you stay patient and fight through the initial headaches. They won't last forever. Your body will eventually adjust.

been on effexor xr for 7 months yeah the side-effect sound just like mine! They will pass as your body adjusts to the tablets. It took about 3 weeks for me but well worth it as they really work and made me much less depressed.

I still have strange dreams and suffer from sweating but all other side-effects are gone. Dont miss a dose it apparently is hell! Im on 225mg of effexor and each time I increased the side-effects came back but went again fairly soon.

Get your doctor to check your BP regularly & Id also ask to have an ECG done to check your heart rate is ok. (effexor alters it apparently!)

good luck x
