Maybe its not the Wellbutrin that is messing up my periods. Does Effexor cause period problems?

I'm on that also and haven't had any problems but everyone is different. I hope you feel better soon!

OK, I gotta preface this by telling you I ain't know much, ya know?
When I was on Strattera, for depression, my periods changed a LOT -- I went from one and a half day periods every 22 days, to 6 or 7 days every 28 days. I was told that that change was related to Strattera, and that it had to do with the actions of norepinephrine in the body, which affected my reproductive hormones. But I haven't been able to find anything online that explains this to me in words of one syllable or less, so I can't tell you more than that.
Since both Wellbutrin and Effexor have effects on norepinephrine, my guess is that either or both could be causing your symptoms. I'm sorry I can't offer anything more concrete than that.

I totally agree with you. I knew it had to do with the meds. I had short, nice periods before.

I used to be on Effexor and Welbutrin and I don't remember it affecting my period. However, I am now taking just Wellbutrin and the result is similar to what you're having. I take the pill-- same one for 8 years. Never had problems. Now the worst PMS in my life. I'm on month 3--the cramps have lessened and period less intense, but still major mood swings. Not sure how much longer i will last!

I am curious about that, because when I started taking Effexor, I was on way too high of a dose, and my period came at the normal time but was really light (and mine are light anyway cause of BCP). But this month, I am on half the dose, and my period started an entire week early, even though I'm on the pill! Freaked me out! So, I don't know if this is because of the Effexor, but I'll post again next month and let you all know how it goes. ;D
