i have been on effexor xr for 2 days, and so far so good, although i feel jittery and have no appetite. I am on this for depression, but mostly for social anxiety, which i have pretty bad. this is my 4th medication (paxil, wellbutrin, zoloft) and none have been right for me. does this help with the social anxiety, and is the withdrawl as bad as everyone says?

Hey! Effexor works the best for me for both depression and social anx., but i also take klonopin w/ it and recently added Wellbutrin for energy. I had no s/effects and when i quit cold(dont though), i had NO w/d symptoms although i am one of the few. I did restart Effexor though after 45 days. It works and affects each person differently so there is no correct answer :( U just have to try it for at least a few weeks and see if it's for u. If u google it, u will find tons of info. from real people. Take care and welcome ; )

Today is the third day. I am going to see if this helps me, cause everything else has failed. one major thing that i am worried about is gaining weight. this is not an option for me!!!! how has that been for everyone else? so far, i have no appetite!

hey! effexor did not cause me to gain weight at all like the other A/D's. It actually has decreased my appetite and i have been on it for almost a year?. also, in the 2002 nursing guide;(Lippincott's), wellbutrin that is an A/D as well as a smoking deterrent is listed under weight loss in the index. just FYI! ; )
