Better add-on: Klonopin or Triletpal?

Posted by TrishP on September 23, 2005, at 9:11:52

I am taking Wellbutrin and Effexor, but need a little something else to make me feel normal and not too high.

Which is better - taking Trileptal at night to sleep (and as a mood stabilizer - which my docotor likes). OR taking Klonopin?

My doctor is really pushing Trileptal for a mood stablizer.

Any input is helpful.

Saw your post all alone here. I have heard that Trileptal is a great med. I couldn't take it b/c I got severe diarrhea. If you are concerned about addiction - and imho, everyone should be, no matter what they think of their self - control, then I would steer clear of the Klonopin. I took Klonopin and it did wonders, it's obviously a decision you and only you can make. Taking Wellbutrin and Effexor sounds like you're already too high - too much on the norepinephrine-yikes!
Have you tried Lamictal?

Great med! :)
Best to you!

What is your dx. I think a lot depends on that. I once took trileptal with other sleep meds was supposed to help my mood and with sleep. Didn't notice a thing. Klonopin just made me duller than I am. Fondly, Phillipa
