How much Xanax a day is too much?

I was just curious, How much Xanax a day is too much? I take 2mg in the morning and 2mg at night.........is that an overwhelming amount?

No I don't think it's excessive but twice a day dosing could cause rebound anxiety. Have you ever tried a longer acting benzo like klonopin or valium? Fondly, Phillipa

Hi Violet I often take that much but in more than 2 doses. I've read 10mg per day is safe, though I don't necessarily recommend it

for one of her patients, although I am on 3mg per day.

and if i am not mistaken, in the early 1970s, they were prescribing 10-15mgs routinely for people.

even though klonopikn has a bad rep, it hhas been a wonder drug for me. ive never felt compelled to use it, nor have any of my friends who take it for medicinal purposes.

-Xanax was bought onto the market in ~1982, not available in the 70s,-recommended max 4.5mgs daily for ANX/DEP max 10mgs for sever panic disorder.

I'v taken Clonazepam for a while. While it is EXTREMELY effective for PD, it made me excess salivate, and caused depression:).
