I have been on every med just about, and have GAD with depression. Lexapro has only been in Canada for a short time, so my pdoc switched me from celexa to lexapro (or cipralex as it is called in Canada)
Has this worked for anyone???
Seems to make me more anxious, although I do have klonopin and seroquel for that.
Thanks in advance!!

I think that it made a dent in my GAD. I was on paxil and prozac before that.
It should be said that I also have pretty significant depression and I have had to add A LOT of other meds to my combo to treat my MDD and GAD. Desipramine (a TCA) seemed to be good for my GAD. It has a lot of side effects though. Neurontin also helped with rumination.
Best,
EE

Oops. You have depression too. I missed that. I'll tell you my whole combo in case you are interested:
Lexapro (40mg)
Neurontin (1200mg)
Dexedrine (15mg)
Desipramine (125mg)
Lithium (600mg)
Ambien (5mg)It's a lot of meds, but it seems like it has started to work (keep your fingers crossed). The Lithium was the newest addition. It is to augment the antidepressants (I'm not bipolar). My guess is that the seroquel does that for you, huh? That was one option for me too.

Lexapro works very well for my anxiety and depression. I take it along with Provigil which helps with my ADD and also with anxiety.
Lexapro has the usual SSRI side effects, but for me they have been somewhat less than Prozac or Celexa.

one of the things lexapro is supposed to treat is in fact anxiety. supposed to be one of the best out there. but to tell you the truth, you just have to try it to see if it works for you. you know how it is: these meds work, but they dont know which ones work for who.
i hope it works for u. heard good things about lex.
hey, i thought you were taking seroquel????? thats great for GAD

I know of someone who takes it for anxiety, and it's working very well. I've noticed a big change for the better.

THank you for all your posts!!
I do take seroquel as well, but it makes me sleepy and I have cut it down to 100mg a day in 25mg tablets.
So I have that and klonopin for the startup anxiety, I guess I am just a little hesitant about any new med after being on so many that failed!!

I do take seroquel and it does work, but my gad is complicated and I fall into so many categories on the dsm that they really aren't sure what else I could have...so that is why I have been on so many meds..but you are right about the seroquel.

hockey, seroquel (25mg) has been a miracle drug for me. it has totally terminated that rage of nervous energy (i.e. anxiety). however, now my problem, now that i am used to it, is that it makes me groggy for most of the day.
i hate to give it up bec it helps with the anxiety. any med suggestions on what to take to get me awake????
