Effexor XR 37.5, 75, 150 /pray

Posted by Brent C1 on August 28, 2005, at 6:25:29

My first post but some of the side effects of my new medication Effexor XR have led me to this board.

I have a long history spanning many yrs of severe anxiety related nausia, weakness, and nerve ending sensitivity, mild as a child then peaking as I became a young adult.

I had been doing ok on Celexa 40mg once daily before bed, but recently Celexa went generic and it seemed to stop working for me. I was increased to the generic Celexa (Citralopram) 60mg and it still didn't seem to work.

So I'm trying the Effexor Xr and starting at 37.5 for a week, then 75 for 2 weeks, then 150 steady. I'm 1 week in on the Effexor and it seems to be helping, along with .25mg Klonopin to help reduce withdraw effects on the Celexa. Once I reach 75mg on the Effexor I will disconinue the Klonopin and cross my fingers.

I have had some side effects, slight dizzyness and headaches but thankfully no nausea although I make sure to take it with plenty of food. This is my first night of sleeplessness.

Im praying this will allow me to function like a normal person, I have been physically and mentally miserable for so long.

It saved my life. I've been taking it over a year now along with a small dosage of Klonopin. Best wishes to you.

Hey Brent! Nice to meet you!

Effexor XR has worked well for me, better than Prozac with far fewer side effects, but I had to start taking my dose at night to miss the nausea plus Ambien to get any sleep. I am now Ambien free, but it took a while.

Good luck!

Im on day 8 and so far so good, today is my first does of 75mg Effexor XR.

The headaches have subsided but the inability to go to sleep and sleep for very long has increased. I also have had a few organsms and I'm not sure how to describe the feeling but its different. Less ejaculation and less muscular control seems to be part of the symtom.

As far as the anxiety it hasnt reared its head yet. Im amazed at how well and fast and at such a low dose impacted the anxiety.

I have become alittle more agressive and irritable. I think that will go away though as I up the dosage since I'm no longer on the Celexa.

Brent,

I also noticed I had periods of irritability when titrating to the next dosage. But these subsided. Again, good luck!
