Since the weekend was coming up, I thought I would lower my Effexor from 75mg to 37.5mg to see if it would help in the sex department. Bad move.
I am also struggling between Wellbutrin 150XL (which I love) and Wellbutrin 200SR (hoping this would up the sex drive and make it easier to orgasim). The problem is the Well 200SR makes me hyper.
So this weekend when I switched to 200SR Well and 37.5 Effexor I was very emotional and flew into a rage. I eneded up taking .25 Risperdal the next morning and 150XL Well and back up to 75mg Eff. I also took .50 Klonoppin to sleep that night. For some reason, the Effexor at 75mg keeps me calm like a mood stabilizer.
I keep trying to find the right combo so I can sleep and have sex. I can't get out of control like that again. Its been a long time since I went bizerk.
I'm afraid to take risperdal everyday, especially becuase I'm a woman and I don't want any weird permanent facial ticks.
The Klonopin helps me sleep better than Trazodone.
Not sure what to do about sex. I guess I'm stuck with the higher dose of effexor forever!

Don't know what to suggest about the emotional turmoil that can happen when you're trying to taper down on Effexor. I had a heck of a time with "discontinuation syndrome" as they prefer to call it, but it did pass. Maybe trying to tough it out a bit before you give up?
What did work for me, wonderfully, with anorgasmia was cyproheptidine. I'd take one a couple of hours before sex -- you know, about the time we started giving one another That Look -- and then I could roll around and scream with the best of 'em. Afterwards, I'd ease off to sleep, wake up the next morning and go on with my day. No mess, no fuss, just good, old fashioned, conjugal bliss.
If you haven't tried it, talk to your doctor about it. Cyproheptidine is an old anti-histamine that blocks the effects of the serotonin reuptake inhibitors, so you can can't take it all the time -- it would basically undo most of what the Effexor is doing for you -- but for as needed sexual help? Great stuff. Safe as houses, and pennies a dose.
Hope that helps, and good luck.
