WHY does Alprazolam feel so very different ..???

Posted by NARCOLEPTIC on July 14, 2005, at 22:52:51

From other BDZ's
What makes it so special apart from the fact that its a Triazalobenzodiazepine. Where can I find a site that goes deep into receptor binding of this and other newer drugs.

Alprazolam actually gives me energy while obliterating ALL anxiety and not clouding cognition. Methylphenidate calms me down yet its slightly stimulating in that your reasoning/ cognitive abilities and motor coordination is excellent.

I tend to need more of MPH in the later part of the day just to keep in focus and not bounce around and be miserbale and restless and bouncy. 40 mg stat actually does wonders. I just become very quiet and organized and motivated at the same time.

I have heard some people take more of[and do very well] on the the recommemded daily dose of 60 mg. I sometimes take an extra 20 mg. I even saw a few articles in which some folks take as much as 120 mg. and with no major side effects.

Am I becoming tolerant? I mean I take it to relax not to get high, infact I can get high on piriton and anticholinergic antihistmines ....happened many times when I had the flew, but I dont like the rush and the insomnia. Even I hydrocortisone shot made me buzz like if I had 10 beers, HATED IT!!

MPH also does wonders for my frustration tolerance and anger.

I am worried about having to take more mind you I have never gone over 80 mg in a 26 hrs period. It tends to fluctuate. More stressful days require more of MPH.

Is there something I cn add to it besides Dextromethorphan/ memantine/ Magnesium so I can feel at peace and focus on actually working on my aspirations. Would Amphetamine be worthwhile, or modafinil, selegiline, s teenie dose of an AP.

Please anyone?

thats pretty awesome that it does not cloud your cognitive abilities... i wish i had something to recommend, i need to reclaim whatever cognitive ability i can, but lots of people here are pretty smart. i just wanted to thank you for posting. i was wondering if i should consider a benzo.

I have exactly this experience with Xanax; the other benzos slow me down to some degree. I recall someone posting to babble before that Xanax stimulates more dopamine release than the other benzos, which could explain its positive effects on cognition. But I haven't found anything to substantiate this. Maybe it's just a matter of individual chemistry...

Hi
When I had Xanax a couple of times years ago I did think it did something different.......I wondered whether it would cover for the Valium Serepax and Librium I'd been using, I was waiting for that sort of relaxation.
So it's good?
Chemist likes it.
