EFFEXOR SUCCESS STORIES? -PHILLIPA?

Posted by dick hunt on June 21, 2005, at 22:49:46

Hey all...
I'm usually a "lurker" on this board, but I feel I need to contribute a little... First of all, I have severe depression, social anxiety, and all is very "treatment resistant" I've been through the merry-go-round of meds several times over since I was 14 (now 27) The only thing that worked decently was nardil, but couldn't handle the side defects... Now I'm taking effexor XR @ 100+ mg/day whatever the 75mg + 37.5mg= I don't like to do math anymore.... Anyway... + 4mg/day klonopin, and I don't feel all that well... The effexor seems to worsen my anxiety now that I have acclimated to the klonopin... I just like to sleep all day if I take the effexor in the morning, and if I take it at night, I have restlesss sleep, and a very "speedy" next day. Will this go away with time or a dose increase? I've been on it for 8 weeks... I really don't know what to do anymore. I've been diagnosed BPD and BP2 + dissasociative disorder... My p-doc might soon put me on APs which I do not like the idea of, but if it works, what the f***...
Anyway- Phillipa - I love your input- you a cool person... Otherwise besides the sleepiness, the effexor is making me hit the booze hardcore!, so it must not be making me feel better... Just zippy! Love to all... Will this sh** go away?

Gee dick hunt. It's flattering to think someone is reading your posts. But I'm sorry to say I don't think I can help you with the effexor. I had to quit after being on 37.5mg for about a week. I was a space cadet. Always seemed to feel better when I was off the AD's. But thanks for the compliment. Babble some time. Who are you and why not turn on your Babblemail. Fondly, Philllipa

I've been taking it for about 4 yrs. and it's great for me. It did make me very queazy and tired all day, so I take it before I go to bed and sleep through most of it. I did have to use Ambien for a while to get any sleep, but don't use it at all now.

Hope you're feeling better.

Hey all... :)
My p-doc added Trileptal a week ago, and upped my Effexor to 150 mg/day... also reduced my Klonopin to 2 mg/day down from 4 mg/day. I've gotta say, I'm feeling a whole lot better. I take the effexor @ night and lately I've been waking up... "happy"? Whatever that is... Better than before anyway... I think the Klonopin was no longer helping my anxiety, just making me "down" which I really don't need. Hope this continues, cuz now I'm actually getting a few things done... Might go back to work soon :) ? :(
Thanx all - Jon
