Your waiting to try Topamax Lara?
I understand your frustrations fully. In the past months i've gone through, sodium valproate, lithium, lamotrigine, carbamazepine and finaly oxcarbazepine - which worked!...Until I began getting kidney pains and had to stop :-(
Now topamax seems my last option..I would really like to hear from anyone whos taking this, preferbly mono-therapy and even better if it actually works and makes them feel good like medicine should! lol

How did you find that out from crazymeds..was it from the information about Trilepal or using the Forum there?
I've noticed that from today they have change the address of the forum, I left a message there anyway.
I would really like to speak to the person which you did about these kidney pains, be very grateful if you could let me know who it was :-)

I loved Topamax - took it for over a year, lost 35 pounds, looked great, felt like a zombie though. But after a year I started having bladder problems, severe bladder spasms and terrible bladder pain, like my bladder was raw inside. Went to a urologist, etc., nothing worked. I finally stopped taking the Topamax because it always did make me pee a lot. After several weeks the pain and spasms went away. I have tried going back to Topamax several times, but just can't handle the bladder spasms and pain.
If it works for you great.

I just tapered off Topamax. After VERY slowly tapering up to 100mg/day, it still induced extreme fatigue and full blown panic attacks. Feel much better off it. I think it caused the metabolic acidosis in me which they warn you about.
That being said,my doctor said many of her patients are doing well on it.
Everybody is different.

Oh yes, that is one thing you have to be aware of when taking the med. Drink as much water as possible and cranberry juice. It often causes bladder problems.

Sorry to hear that it didn't work out long-term for you.
It pretty much looks like i'll be trying Topamax in the near future, i'll be looking out for that side effect you mentioned. Its a such a shame when these meds do awlful things to your body like that :-(

Very true, It does show that people can react so differently to the same 1 medication.
Interesting what you mention you about panic attacts, as I have had them before coupled with bad anxiety - this is the one thing I would hope doesn't happen to me on it..just have to wait and see.
