med switch = crying/more depressed??

Posted by bent on May 26, 2005, at 7:32:43

Hi. I have a question regarding Paxil. I have taken Paxil CR for a while, 25mg. Recently I went to get my refill and found out that several lots of Paxil CR were recalled. The pharmacy called my doctor and he switched me to 20mg of regular Paxil (which I have never taken). I've been on the regular paxil for almost three weeks now but this week I have been incredibly upset. So many things make me upset and so hopeless feeling. Its rare that I get upset to the point of sobbing. I have never felt so depressed but it all came so quickly. Granted there are some issues in my life right now but they have been there. Does anyone think it could be a result of the med change? I really cant take it. I feel so weird.

I had an MD episode while I was on Paxil. For some it works very well for anxiety and depression and one of my pdoc was a great advocate of this drug. However if you feel that your depression is getting worse, you shouldn't wait too long for the next visit.
