Weight gain Effexor?

Posted by TrishP on May 24, 2005, at 8:30:57

I recently started Buspar for anxiety - its working pretty good. I also take a low dose of Trileptal. My problem is the AD. I like Wellbutrin but it tends to make me feel agressive (maybe the Buspar would help that). But my PDoc suggested Effexor. I'm afraid of Effexor due to weight gain.

Anyone know about getting fat on Effexor? Maybe I should try the Wellbutrin with the Buspar?

Some do, some don't on Effexor. I'm one of the "lucky" ones in that Effexor makes me lose weight ... not a whole lot but around 10% of total starting body weight. It was more pronounced when I hit the 250mg dosage and onwards. At one point it was combined with Seroquel and the weight loss became rather scary. I was so agitaed in my sleep and sweating so much that I ended up losing a pound per week, no matter what I ate or did. It was rather scary. But Effexor by itself had only a mild effect on my body weight.

I've lost 30 lbs. while on Effexor... » TrishP
