What is the effective dose of seroquel? I have schizoaffective disorder and I'm on 400 mgs twice a day. Is this a good dose?

I believe that 800mg/day is the maximum theraputic dose. Which means that you won't get any additional benefits from any additional mg/day. Whatever effect you get at 800mg is the most effect you can get from the drug.
Your dose is high, but is certainly not that uncommon. If it works for you, keep with it.

Well that varies. It is different for different people. There is typically a 'clinical range' (I think that is what it is called) that is supposed to define what 'theraputic' levels are - but some people find 'sub-theraputic' levels to be theraputic for them, and other people find that they are able to tolerate more than the maximum in the clinical range.

Well...
The question should really be:
'Is this a good dose FOR ME?'
Are you benefiting from it?
What happens when the dosage is reduced a little - more benefit or less?
How about when it is increased?
It can sometimes take a bit of playing around to figure out what is right for you.
Your p-doc should be able to help you out with that if you keep him informed of how you are finding the medication.I used to be on 250mg 2x daily. That worked pretty good for me.
Now I can't handle more than 50mg nocte.
