It seems to suggest that lithium induces epilepticus. I thought that lithium blocked certain stages of kindling.

hello there linkadge...it appears that the study in question was addressing the effect of pretreatment of NGF and Y-kinase by using a cholinergic - pilocarpine - and a drug that does *not* inhibit kindling in the amygdala: lithium. lithium is rather high on the list of drugs to keep a watch upon is one has epilepsy. in that case, carbamazepine is a better choice, is it does inhibit kindling. it is no surprise that scopolamine came to the rescue. recall that that SE was induced via alteration of genes that code NGF and the mRNA Y-kinases targeted. while the evidence for this stilted study - think knockout mice - is enticing, it is pointing towards a mechanistic means that was established almost 25 years ago. all the best, chemist
