Hi all,
Effexor was great for me for a year but then it quit on me. Now I've augmented with Remeron, which helps my insomnia, but my mood is still crap. So I've upped the Effexor to 225mg, which kicked in after two weeks, but then err, kicked out again after another week. Same story when I upped to 262.5mg. Thing is, Effexor still does wonders for my anxiety but I haven't the mood to enjoy it.
So how then? More Effexor? Another combo possibly? And does anyone have any suggestions partaining to a possible combo?
Hm, hope anyone can offer some helpful insights.
Regards,Nick

If I remember correctly, a lot of people take over 300 mg Effexor. I think you still need a dose increase before augmenting.

Yeah, you are probably right. The sweating can't get any worse though, or I'll need a lifepreserver...

Low dose zyprexa, low dose other atypical ap, or low dose prozac. Just one opinion, but those would be my top choices for augmenting effexor. Possibly provigil. I might have also suggested wellbutrin, except for the greater risk of worsening anxiety.
The low dose ap thing is becoming more and more popular because it seems to work a lot, and for a wide range of symptoms. The prozac suggestion is directly from what I've seen here at this board over the years.
I personally do not believe in increasing the dose up toward the high end. I think if it isn't working at a low or medium dose, then it just isn't hitting the right targets to begin with. But, that is just my opinion based on my own experiences and observations.

Another good possible option would be Ritalin or Concerta. For insurance purposes, you might have to tell your doc that you are ADD. I just added Concerta yesterday to my Cymbalta (which is similar to Effexor). I have a good feeling about this so far.
