I need help!
I started taking Lexapro and XanaxXR 7 weeks ago for panic attacks and anxiety.
I've been on Lexapro 20mg and XanaxXR 1mg.
I just decreased XanaxXR to .5mg a week ago and I feel terrible (humming in my ear, face feels numb, prickly-like goosebumps all over, eyes itchy, tingly feelings on the side of my head and on my back and arms, stomach tight, hard to breathe). Am I having withdrawal from taking less XanaxXR? Or is it side-effects from the Lexapro? Or am I having rebound anxiety from taking less XanaxXR? Or is it just my anxiety breaking through due to not taking enough XanaxXR?

Go back up on the xanax and see if it goes away. That's a big cutback. Fondly, Phillipa

hi phillipa
is that a big cutback? i get confused because XanaxXR .5mg is the total weight of the pill and it's extended-released which i think means it's releasing about a 1/3rd of the .5mg every 4 hours, so my brain is getting about .167mg every 4 hours. Is that alot of Xanax? This is the first time I've ever taken it. Thanks again!

You know, I've never taken the extended release. My old pdoc and my daughter-in-law both said it didn't work as well as regular xanax. I've read and I really could be totally wrong something about it may be taken off the market because of not accurately releasing the doseage. If I read this it was here. You might want to Google a search on the xanax. I know my daughter-in-law had to take regular zanax with it. If you were cutting back from the regular lmg it would be a 50percent cut which is a lot. How long have you been on it? If a very short time it might be okay. I'm sorry I'm wishy-washy on this but I just csn't remember. Fondly, Phillipa

> I started taking Lexapro and XanaxXR 7 weeks ago for panic attacks and anxiety.-I somehow doubt it's the Lexapro, you had been on it at this dose with no problem
-Probably w/d effects in part, the anxiety probably both: the original anxiety reappearing and some rebound anxiety from the xanax decrease.

Call it rebound or withdrawal as they are much the same animal. But I'll place a huge wager it's the Xanax. I speak only from personal experience here.Scott
