Hi Paul

When my mother in law and her daughter were visiting, they had all their meds stolen from their room in the motel they were staying at (about$1200 worth), and we had the police out to document the burglary. I think her insurance covered the loss.

It's unlikely that your physician will argue with a police report, if it's appropriate under the circumstances for you to file a complaint.

Best wishes,

Mark H.

Thanks kindly Mark,

It was Ritalin IR and the Doc took my word for it, since it was the first time it's happened, and gave me some to see me thru.

I had it happen once with valium. My pdoc wrote me another Rx as he knows I don't abuse them. They were stolen by a relative. Fondly, Phillipa

Hi Paul,

I don't know which meds were stolen (there were a lot of them), but the irony was that most of them would make the thief sick if he took them.

Yes, their doctors replaced the scripts, and the insurance company paid to replace the meds. If I recall correctly, it was actually their homeowner's policy that covered the theft, even though they were traveling.

I can see why Ritalin, in particular, might be stolen, and why doctors might be reluctant to believe us unless we have a good working history with them. I'm glad you were able to get a new script for your meds.

Best wishes,

Mark H.
