Its only been 4 days but for the first time my anxiety has gone down so much. I had diarrhea so bad that I bled from my anus (Ok thats probably too much information) and the nausea is really bad. Thats actually my question, what can i do for the nausea? I cant do anything because everytime i move i feel like vomitting. Can anyone suggest a medication that will stop this? Ive tried Maxelon(sp?) and stemitil and they dont work the only thing that does help is Ativan but then i feel all sleepy afterwards. I just want to suggest something to my doctor. Also, how long will the nausea last? 1 week? 2 weeks? I dont think i could stay on this medication if the nausea being this bad stays which is a shame because its working so great already I think which is unusual for me. So yea any info please would be great. Thank you all so much and take care.

It was very bad for me too and one of the reasons I stopped.
Anyhow try this. When you take the Tegretol take a dash of salt. Lick the top of your hand and sprinkle salt on it and then lick off the salt. Don't know ask me how, or why but it works.
If the Tegretol doesn't let up with the side effects try Trileptal. They are cousins and Trileptal has hardly any side effects.
Feel better soon.
Hugs,
Maxime

I got really bad nausea from Trileptal. I don't know if I would get the same from Teg or not.. but when I was on Trileptal and had nausea I treated it with meclizine (a motion sickness antihistamine). I just took half a tab twice a day and it worked pretty good. You can also try fresh ginger (from what I've read here).

Hi Alien,
Your side effects sound awful, I hope you're seeing your doctor soon. Perhaps your dose is too high. Are you taking the controlled release? It might help to reduce the side effects.
You could try cyclizine for the nausea and loperamide for the diarrhea. Please call your doc ASAP.
Kind regards,
Ed.

You mentioned you are taking a time-release formula - would that be Tegretol XR or Carbatrol?
I've taken Tegretol for over 10 yrs. I've taken Tegretol non-time-release, and Tegretol XR and Carbatrol (these last 2 are both time-release but different formulations and brands).
My side effects happened when starting out, or when upping the dose - always went away in a week or so, or by lowering the dose.
The only time I had NAUSEA, was from Carbatrol brand time-release version. Never from Tegretol immediate or Tegretol XR timed-release.
Your side effects sound severe - can you call your doctor and let him know what's going on?
Hope things get better soon.
