Hey everyone,
I have been off adderall for about close to a week or 2.
I was on 60mg in one dose, daily. At times i would re-dose if i took it early, such as a 7:30-8:00 usally wore off at 12:00, but i was not suppost to.
Anyway, i stopped use for my own sake, and fearing neurotoxic damage from high dose.
I am aware of consequences of abuse.... mainly why i stopped for now.
But i've heard of past combinations such as Dexamyl (dextoamphetamine-amobarbital), and other amphetamine patents with meprobamate, and phenobarbital.
I would like to open a discussion to, if this is helpful with ADHD, behavioral effects, and if or how bad is abuse potential.
Would you think it would suppress the actions of stimulants that manage ADHD, lessen repetious behvior and attention.
I do take Ativan 1mg, but diffrent depressants have diffrent actions, amobarbital in articles with amphetamine claimed it was a prosocial med which was used for depression, and obsiety, i didnt find its use on anything w/ ADHD, or minimal brain function in articles, so i dont know if its effective.
If i do go back, 30mg adderall, and 1mg ativan may be a trial.
I just wanted your opinion.
I may not go back to stim., i may look at TCA's.
Thanks for anything
Matt

Glad to hear you're feeling better! Sorry I don't have any expert advise on your question, but I wanted you to know I care. Fondly, Phillipa

hey! I'm also pleased to hear that you feel better now. I'm interested in Dexamyl...apparently, my grandmother took it back in the day, lol. ADHD wasn't a big deal until recently, although stimulants have been used on kids since the 30s, I think. Anyway, I used to take adderall with Klonopin (60mgs/4mgs) and now use BuSpar instead...basically, the downer just kills off some of the jitteriness you might get, while the upper kills off any excess sedation. Unfortunately, the old combos used barbiturates, which are somewhat addictive, but more importantly dangerous. (mixed with alcohol they can kill; when one stops taking barbiturates abruptly, deadly seizures can result; up to 5% of former barbiturate users experienced these deadly seizures). I've taken ativan before, sometimes with adderall, and it was OK, though it seemed kinda short-lived. What might work is a low-dose TCA+mid-dose adderall; they tend to work together, just watch your pulse/blood pressure. (some shrinks won't do the combo for those reasons...that and compliance problems with tca's).
This is the end of the thread.
