I once had really bad side-effects from a psychiatric drug and I was given clonazepam to help ease this and it worked very well. I am curious as to how benzodiazepines help with side-effects or with withdrawal symptoms. For instance, do they somehow counteract withdrawal or side-effects by effecting certain chemicals in the brain and which chemicals would these be?

I cant answer all your questions, but I take Klonopin and I think my doc said it works on the GABA receptors. I know that its usually perscribed for panic discorders and seizures. there'a a site you might visit: www.remedyfind.com and search your drug. Renee
