Has anyone else found that smoking causes the anti-anxiety effects to lessen when taking benzos? I've found that i need a higher dose to combat this, and it also seems to cause more sedation too.

This is very common, smoking cigarettes can decrease the bioavailablility of benzodiazepines by up to 50%.

Wow! I didn't know that! I smoke and am taking clonazepam. Nicotine must be a very powerful substance. Perhaps that's why I have such a hard time when trying to quit. Maybe it's best to try when taking a benzo...hmmm.
Thanks for posting!
