depressed on lex and klon

Posted by owenus32 on December 9, 2004, at 22:20:40

Like really depressed, shut myself off from all activity except work, now not working. Not cleaning, not even bathing sometimes. I didn't realize how bad it was untill I took wellbutrin and started doing things but I got the hives and stopped. So I think the klonopin must go bc I wont have ins soon and i can't change now. It's strange how you get so used to something you don't even know you are depressed.

Getting of the klon is probably a good move--benzos can make you feel down. Are you on klon b/c of anxiety? Would you need something else to replace it? Maybe you could switch your SSRI to something else and that would be helpful. Have you tried any others? Paxil is the one that they talk about for anxiety (It wasn't so great for me, but has been helpful to others).

Best,
EE

Paxil is generic now (in U.S.--not sure how this works elsewhere) and so that also could be cheaper w/o ins.

Good luck!

Hello,

It's a shame you had to stop the Wellbutrin but there are plenty of other treatments that you could try. Some pdocs combine desipramine with Lexapro. Desipramine is often very effective for depression and could increase your motivation. Like Wellbutrin, desipramine doesn't generally cause drowsiness.

Regards,
Ed.

A good idea to stop the klon if you are depressed. I would love to take Klonopin for my social phobia but it just depresses the hell out of me every time I take it.
