Xanax withdrawal

Posted by repop on November 21, 2004, at 16:58:50

I'm using Klonopin to withdraw form xanax. The Klonopin tends to make me a bit depressed. I have to take a trip and be with friends and family for the holidays. Would it be harmful to switch back to xanax for this 6 day period or to just add it to the Klonopin I'm taking.

I had horrible withdrawl from xanax. (my pdoc switched me to klonopin after years on x) but after the first 2-3 wks i adjusted. But when i told my pdoc that at first i was very depressed on the klon. she advised me not to take it with the xanax. like one or the other. She even offered me ativan (which didnt work) but she seems to think that mixing benzo's is a no no....
Who knows...

Thanks for the feedback woolav, that seems to be the general consensus. These benzos have really screwed me up.
Take care

i've been taking xanax and klonopin together for over a year, and at one point recently, i was taking ativan, klonopin, and xanax at once. i think it's bad practice to prescribe 2 or more benzos, but i don't think there's anything inherently wrong or dangerous about mixing them. one psychopharmacologist said, "some people are just xanax people," when my dr talked to her about switching me over to all klonopin, which makes me depressed, too, when i use it during the day. just a thought. hope you figure this out.

thanks carebear. that's a good insight. i've decided to drop the klonopin completely because of it's depressive qualities.
thanks again
