Mitch: Pamelor

Hey Mitch,

So I think I have pretty much got the nardil equivalent in 450 lithium, 100 zoloft, 25 pamelor and 1 klonopin. Adding the pamelor definately helps with motivation ... I noticed if I take too high a dose I get *too* focused ... less social, more irritable and aggressive. Does this happen to you?

Have a great weekend.

Smith

Yes, I get hyperfocus problems from noradrenergics as well. When I was on nort. (along with Zoloft in one case, and with Celexa in another), I tried 10mg, then 20mg, and then 30mg/day. The 30mg dose was too much, I actually started to develop a mild stutter tic and felt too jumpy. If you are taking it with Zoloft (esp. high dose Zoloft), the blood levels of the nort. are going to be boosted significantly because the Zoloft inhibits the liver enzymes that break the nortr. down so it can be eliminated. You might find a lower dose (i.e. 10mg) might work better without causing the adverse events you mention. Maybe the hyperfocus and hypervigilance will reduce to comfortable levels while maintaining the motivational boost. Good luck!
